A little history

The AAP SOU was founded in 1971 as the premier professional organization to connect pediatric urologists and to advance the field. Its annual meetings became the place where the primary advances in our field were first described. Over time the challenge of integrating this meeting within the much larger AAP NCE became challenging and the meeting was integrated within the Pediatric Urology Fall Congress. Over time it became clear that something was lost with this arrangement. There was a need to reconnect with the general pediatric community and associated sub-specialists.
